Charles Haythornthwaite is a senior partner at Chrysalix VP, a global venture fund focused on transformation industrial innovation including climate tech and intelligent systems. Chrysalix specializes in transformational industrial innovation. The latest fund focused on intelligent systems (automation, sensors, robotics, AI) and their new fund returns to carbon neutrality/climate tech.
Chrysalix is one of the longest-running and best-known energy industrial and cleantech investors in North America. Their model involves close corporate engagement with partners that have included Shell, Total, EDF, BASF, Caterpillar, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Hyundai, Teck Resources, and South32. Chrysalix helps them simplify their engagement to the startup world and then benefits from these corporations’ insights into the “problems that matter” within often hidden industrial processes.
In recent years, Chrysalix has become very active in the UK, Europe, and North America. Typically, Chrysalix initially invests at an early stage, but follows on and provides strategic assistance to portfolio companies throughout their life cycle.
Charles has an MBA from Berkeley and a PhD in applied Physics.
