Senior Project Manager - Technology, CDL-Global

Overview

Creative Destruction Lab​ (“CDL”), originated at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, is a nonprofit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. The CDL program has created billions in equity-value since its inception by targeting companies that have the potential to transform our social, industrial, and economic landscape. 

CDL helps innovators transition from science projects to high-growth companies, inviting some of the world’s top, early-stage technology ventures from around the globe for an innovative 9-month program. After a rigorous application and selection process, each CDL site engages senior entrepreneurial leaders, as well as noted scientists, economists, investors, and graduate students in the support of new venture founders with a goal to prepare these founders for seed-stage financing and accelerated growth.

The CDL culture is one that engages a team of brilliant people with significant relationship acumen, a strong sales orientation, an innovative mindset, and a relentless ambition to create the foundation for world-class venture acceleration.

Status: Short-term Contract (approximately 6 months)

Timing

This position normally works Monday to Friday, 8:45 A.M. to 5:00 P.M, 7.25 hours per day (36.25 hours per week), although extended or alternative hours (evenings and weekends) will be required based on the needs of CDL-Global.

Reports To: Director of Network Operations (CDL-Global)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Network Operations team and select team members and stakeholders across the entire organization to develop and execute technology project plans
  • Research multiple solutions, gather multiple vendor quotes to propose solution and project resource requirements
  • Develop project plans, including value proposition, detailed workflow, timelines, and testing schedule
  • Report project status, milestones, and metrics to key stakeholders
  • Oversee implementation of solutions including communications, data parameters, and training
  • Develop user guide documentation
  • Develop user training and onboarding materials

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Undergraduate degree focused on commerce, economics, entrepreneurship, administration, management, etc. is required
  • Master’s degree in business administration or equivalent is preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience with a combination of project, program, and product management
  • Significant customer service experience is required including confidence working with senior technology executives and angel investors
  • Significant experience in event planning and project coordination is required
  • Work experience in the entrepreneurial ecosystem with startups, technology companies, or venture capital is preferred, to include a strong understanding of business models and drivers of success in startups
  • Experience in sales is an asset; a deep understanding of CRMs is an asset
  • Passion for technology and product development is a must
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work effectively in a complex, dynamic, and sophisticated organization
  • Demonstrated professionalism, tact, and maturity in handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, energetic, and goal-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously; strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills including GSuite and Microsoft Office applications is essential
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of social media, and emerging communications technologies (i.e. Slack, Airtable, Salesforce) required
