Ian studied engineering at Cambridge, graduating with first class honours. His Masters project was a computer vision system to classify breast cancer biopsy images. He co-founded Songkick, the concert service. Ian is an angel investor in many climate related start-ups including FabricNano, Field Energy, Holy Grail, Hopin, Infogrid and Mellizyme. He is also the chair of Phasecraft, a quantum software start-up focusing on new materials. Ian is a Visiting Professor at UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose where he explores the relationship between the state and emerging technologies. He is co-author of the State of AI report.
