Dr. Ibrahim Yimer was appointed as Director General of the NRC’s Aerospace Research Centre in Jan, 2018, following a successful career in applied research in the field of gas turbine combustion and fuels. Dr. Yimer has held positions of increasing responsibility at the NRC, including Director of the Gas Turbine Laboratory for 10 years. He is well recognized in the Aerospace science and technology community where he currently serves as Chair of the International Forum for Aviation Research (IFAR) and as a Director on the boards of AeroMontréal,
WestCaRD, International Society of Air Breathing Engines (ISABE), and International Congress on Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS).

Dr. Yimer holds an MSc and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and he was the recipient of 2013 Public Service Award of Excellence from the Governor General of Canada for Scientific Contribution to the 100% Biofuel Flight Demonstration.
