Jean-David Bégin is an active angel investor and advisor to early stage tech startups. He is singularly focused on helping startups find product market fit & establish an initial go to market strategy that scales. Jean-David started his career in venture capital first with Caisse de Dépôt et Placement where they backed Quack.com the first Internet voice portal bought by AOL, SiGe Semiconductors acquired by Skyworks, Mobile360 acquired by Sybase & Entrisphere acquired by Ericsson. Bégin joined Silicon Valley-based Vantage Point Venture Partners in 2004 where they backed Tesla, MySpace & WageWorks amongst many others. In 2008, he moved to Toronto to join RBC Venture Partners with the dual mandate of investing for RBC VP’s fintech fund as well as BlackBerry Partners Fund, the first mobile focused VC fund. He returned to Montreal in 2010 and started Guestful, a startup helping restaurants fill empty seats with yield management. Upon its acquisition by Tacit Innovation in 2015, Guestful was serving thousands of restaurants worldwide & over 1 million diners. Since 2015, Jean-David has been mentoring multiple startups predominantly in SaaS as well as having participated in over 20 angel investments.
