Jonathan Bixby is a serial entrepreneur, active angel investor, board member, and speaker. He invests in fintech, gaming tech, and health tech.
Jonathan has raised over $500M USD in financing which has resulted in over $2B in market capitalization over the last 5 years. In 2017, he co-founded Argo Blockchain (ARB) one of the world’s largest crypto miners listed on both the NASDAQ and the London Stock Exchange. In 2019, he worked with business partner David Beckham to co-found Guild Esports (GILD) and Cellular Goods (CBX), both now listed on the London Stock Exchange. He is the Co-Founder and on the board of Canada’s largest mobile gaming company Leaf Mobile on the Toronto Stock Exchange (LEAF).
Jonathan is the Co-Founder of Koho Financial, Canada’s largest challenger bank, Blue Mesa Health (acquired by the Virgin Group), and was Chairman of the Board of Darkvision (acquired by Koch). Jonathan is currently on the board of directors of Ecoation and CTO.AI, both former CDL companies.
Jonathan was previously an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Vancouver-based startup accelerator GrowLab. Prior to GrowLab, he was the CEO and Co-Founder of Strangeloop Networks, creator of the first network appliance and cloud service for accelerating dynamic web applications. Under Jonathan’s leadership, Strangeloop raised $21 million in financing. Strangeloop was selected the Best Employer in British Columbia for a record five straight years (2008 to 2013). In February 2013, Strangeloop was acquired by Radware (RDWR). Prior to forming Strangeloop, Jonathan co-founded IronPoint Technology, the largest content-management company in the country. As chair of the board, Jonathan led IronPoint from startup to successful acquisition by The Active Network (ACTV) in 30 months. Jonathan also sat on the board of the Vancouver Enterprise Forum, the final jury for the New Ventures BC competition, and the board of Energy Aware. He is a Business in Vancouver Top 40 Under 40 award recipient.
