Khatera Hazin is the vice president of R&D at CarboNet Water Treatment, a Vancouver-based clean tech company. In this role, she leads a team of talented researchers and engineers, driving the development of innovative solutions for water purification.

Drawing from more than 15 years of experience in both academic and industrial research settings, Khatera possesses a profound expertise in catalysis, polymer chemistry, and water treatment. Her professional journey has taken her across Europe and Canada, exposing her to diverse cultures and environments, enriching her insights and perspectives.

Khatera’s contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous publications in scientific journals and several patent applications in polymer science and water treatment.

Khatera holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of British Columbia, Canada, along with a bachelor’s and master’s in chemistry from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. She exhibits a strong passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and engages as a mentor for the Society for Canadian Women in Science & Technology.
