Robert Hanf is an experienced energy professional with a demonstrated history working in the utilities industry. He’s skilled in negotiation, business planning, risk management, and renewable energy.
Mr. Hanf served as an executive leader within Emera and its group of companies for close to twenty years. He was appointed Executive Vice President, Stakeholder Relations and Regulatory Affairs, Emera in August 2016. In this role, he led strategy and alignment for teams across Emera working in stakeholder and regulatory relations, communications and government relations until his retirement from Emera April 1, 2020.
Prior to this, Mr. Hanf was President and Chief Executive Officer of Nova Scotia Power, Chief Legal Officer for Emera, Executive Chairman of Barbados Light & Power Holdings, and President and COO at Bangor Hydro.
A Dalhousie Law graduate (’89), he practiced law in western Canada’s construction and energy sectors for over a decade before returning to Nova Scotia in 2002 to join Nova Scotia Power and Emera.
Mr. Hanf is also Chair of the Board of Governors at Dalhousie University. He is currently a Director of Canadian Utilities Ltd., ATCO Australia, LUMA Energy (Puerto Rico) and Mancal Corporation. He is a member of the Advisory Board of MyHEAT Inc. He is a past Director of Electricity Canada, Honourary Director of the Energy Council of Canada, and a current member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (Atlantic Chapter).
Bob was previously Chair of the Board of the IWK Health Centre (Eastern Canada’s Children’s Hospital) and St. Andrews United Church Council in Halifax, and previously was a member of the Board with the Hospice Society of Greater Halifax.
