Walter Rapoport began his working life as a research economist with Phil Ruthven’s IBIS. After leaving IBIS and witnessing the dawn of a new fashion era, he bought a defunct knitting mill and then spent the next 25 years producing men’s knitwear – for a time as licensee to Pierre Cardin – and supplying some of Australia’s largest retailers.

After closing the plant, Walter pivoted to finance, an enduring interest, having already experienced multifarious aspects of borrowings and other funding instruments.

Walter is the co-founder and joint CEO of Butn Ltd, an ASX listed company, and a director of a suite of Australia and New Zealand’s leading finance companies. Walter’s digital strategy has been his principal focus of growth as new approaches to business lending are being adopted. He is
passionate about delivering effective financing solutions.

He has extensive experience in business building, with strong people management skills, and an abiding desire to keep his customers happy, always.
