For founders commercializing engineering innovations to improve the quality, speed, cost, or accessibility of healthcare

The Biomedical Engineering stream at CDL-Vancouver offers scalable ventures in this domain the opportunity to be mentored by a carefully-curated community comprising successful entrepreneurs, operators, investors, world-class scientists, industry experts and strategic and corporate partners.

CDL startups work with these industry leaders to sharpen objectives, prioritize time and resources, raise capital, and engage with subject matter experts working on the frontiers of research. Startups participate in up to five objective-setting sessions between October and June during the program.

CDL is a non-profit organization. There are no fees for participation, and CDL does not take any equity. Learn more about the CDL program here.

2022 is the inaugural year for CDL Biomedical Engineering, but relevant alumni from previous CDL Health cohorts include:

Our Mentors

CDL mentors include accomplished entrepreneurs, experienced operators, active angel and venture investors, world-leading scientists, engineers, and technologists. Mentors meet CDL startups up to five times in a structured format over the program’s nine-month duration to provide guidance on product development, regulatory, go-to-market and financing strategies and help founders set short-term objectives toward their next inflection point.

Mentor and venture relationships are built through these CDL-engineered interactions and, in some cases, extend beyond the program through ongoing advisory roles.
