Synaptrix Labs
Synaptrix Labs, founded by three NYU graduates, is developing non-invasive brain–computer interfaces that translate EEG signals into real-time commands, beginning with wheelchair, computer, and communication control for people with severe motor impairments. The venture improves on eye-tracking and sip-and-puff systems, which are often slow, unreliable, and difficult to calibrate, by offering a hands-free, non-surgical headband that restores independence and reduces caregiver reliance. The venture’s key differentiator is the proprietary NeuroDiffusion AI engine, which filters noise and decodes intent with low latency, delivering 3–5x faster command control than conventional methods and consistent performance across environments with minimal recalibration. Early feasibility has been shown through a working prototype, initial patient use at home, adoption by research labs, and an ongoing FDA-engaged clinical study.
