David Reid is the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Marketing Officer at NOV, an industry giant commanding a dominant share of the global oilfield equipment manufacturing market and generating upwards of $8.7 billion in annual revenue. In this dual executive role, David shapes the global technology and marketing strategy for the corporation. Throughout his three-decade tenure with NOV, he has lived and worked in Scotland, California, and Houston, leading global business units across product development, operations, and corporate strategy.
A pioneer in modern drilling equipment, automation, and digitization, David played a foundational role in advancing the customization of innovative drilling rig designs in the 1990s and driving efficient rig standardization across the 2000s. He holds multiple patents in drilling systems and automation, as well as numerous published industry papers.
David is a founding member of the SPE Drilling Systems Technical Section and the IADC Advanced Rig Technology Committee. He actively serves on the boards of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the National Ocean Industries Association, the University of Houston Energy Advisory Board, and the IntelliServ joint venture between NOV and Schlumberger. Additionally, David is the founder of redM, a pro-bono crowdsourcing movement dedicated to mobilizing everyday professionals to support survivors and end human trafficking.
