Louise Clemmensen is Scientific Director at the BioInnovation Institute (BII) in Copenhagen. BII is a non-profit foundation with the vision to support world-class life science innovation for the benefit of people and society. BII operates an incubator in Copenhagen, with a broad portfolio of early-stage startups and company creation projects across human and planetary health. Louise is responsible for CardioMetabolic Bridge, a pan-European accelerator for cardiometabolic drug discovery spanning hubs in the UK, Germany and Italy.
Louise has a scientific background within protein engineering and drug discovery, with experience spanning across academia, biotech and the pharma industry. In 2019, Louise joined BII where she was involved in developing and implementing the company creation funding model, Bio Studio. Through different roles, she has worked across BII’s venture creation activity from scouting and opportunity evaluation through diligence, investment committee decisions and spin-out licensing structures. With 12+ years in pharma and biotech, she works at the interface of science, strategy and innovation, with hands-on experience guiding therapeutic programmes from target discovery through preclinical development and setting the Go/No-Go criteria to reach the next inflection point.
