Rick Sethi currently serves as the R&D Director for open innovation and early-stage research within Medtronic’s patient monitoring operating unit. He brings more than two decades of medical device industry expertise from ideation to launching products impacting 100 million lives annually. Rick has experience from private start-ups to large public corporations (Covidien and Medtronic). He has been acquired four times and been involved in four acquisitions. Rick has launched over 20 products, issued over 20 U.S. patents, and has authored eight publications.

Rick has served in a various roles including, product manager, clinical researcher, clinical engineer, chief engineer as well as R&D director roles for program, functional and product Lines. He continues to focus on healthcare data and the clinical problem. He has a track record of developing new partnerships with external companies and supporting BD&L activities.

Rick holds bachelor’s degrees (honours) in biology and electrical engineering, both from Dalhousie University.
