Roger Tang has over 35 years of knowledge in upstream energy business where he founded four E&P companies and mentored young, gender and age diversified professionals and managers during the process.

Roger’s last startup, Deltastream Energy Corporation, was backed by two private equity firms that began operations in 2014 with a total of CAD$120 million in AUM. He served as president and CEO of the company, where he led a team to deploy this capital in a new geological concept, transforming it into one of the best economics plays across Western Canada. The company sold for more than CAD$1.7B in 2022.

In 2023, he established a new Chair in New Energy Materials and Sustainability for solar fuels and solar technologies to assist society’s transition to renewable energy with the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. The chair was established to encourage further opportunities for higher learning and to accelerate research for commercialization.

Roger graduated from the University of Manitoba, first with an undergraduate bachelor’s degree, followed by a master’s degree in geological sciences with a Sigma Xi Designation for Recognition of Research in Science.
