Dr. Ryan Stevenson serves as Chief Scientist at Kymeta Corporation, and is also an Affiliate Associate
Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington.
Stevenson was a founding member of Kymeta, contributing to early technology development at
Intellectual Ventures and joining the founding team when Kymeta spun out from Intellectual Ventures in
August of 2012. At Kymeta, Stevenson has focused on developing the core technology and bridging the
gap between fundamental research and scalable commercial solutions, consistently taking innovative
products from initial laboratory breakthroughs to tangible industry impact. Stevenson’s work has helped
to establish Kymeta as the leading multi-orbit satellite communications terminal provider, and in
recognition of his impact Stevenson was inducted into the Space and Satellite Professionals
International (SSPI) Hall of Fame in March of 2026.
In his past roles, Stevenson worked at the Aerospace Corporation as a Member of Technical Staff in
Microelectronics Reliability and Radiation Effects group, and as a Senior Systems Engineer at Science
Applications International Corporation (SAIC), focusing on spaced-based communications technologies
and system design.
Stevenson has also participated in an advisory capacity, including serving on the Board of Directors for
the Digital Intermediate Frequency Interoperability (DIFI) Consortium (2023-2025), serving as the co-
chair for the DIFI electronically scanned array working group (current), and serving on the Forbes
Technology Council (2022-2024).
Stevenson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering, and Master’s and
Doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Southern California. He has
authored numerous peer—reviewed technical papers and has been awarded over 40 patents.
