Simon Seaton is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), where he leads global operations across offices in Dallas, Houston, Calgary, Kuala Lumpur, and Dubai. With over 100,000 members in 130 countries, SPE is the world’s largest professional organization for the oil and gas sector, advancing the industry’s ability to meet global energy needs safely, securely, and sustainably.
Simon brings extensive leadership experience in the energy industry. He spent a decade at Sodexo in multiple executive roles, including CEO, Energy & Resources Worldwide and CEO, Onshore Energy & Head of Middle East. Earlier, Simon spent more than 20 years at Halliburton in senior operations, marketing, and technology positions. An SPE member for more than 25 years, Simon has authored over 20 technical papers and trade articles on topics including drilling technology, safety and environmental stewardship, knowledge management, human behavior and AI tools.
Simon holds a degree in chemistry from Cardiff University and has completed executive education programs at Rice University and Texas A&M University. In 2025, Simon joined the National Petroleum Council and was elected a Fellow of the Energy Institute in the UK.
