Amy ter Haar is Director, Legal Counsel at BlackBerry, with two decades of experience spanning private practice, in-house counsel, and legal education. She has served as General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel to technology and financial services companies, advising on data protection, privacy, technology transactions, and corporate governance. Before moving in-house, she built and led an independent legal practice for over a decade, advising entrepreneurs, investors, and businesses across a range of industries.
Amy has been a mentor with CDL’s Blockchain stream since 2018, working with founders to sharpen their objectives and connect with investors and emerging technology. She is also a Lead Director and Chair of the Human Resources & Compensation Committee at Everyday People Financial Corp. (EPF.V), and has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Western Law. She was named one of Canada’s Top Women in FinTech and Blockchain by IT World Canada, and is a contributing author to A Practical Guide to Smart Contracts and Blockchain Law (LexisNexis).
