Andrea Sotak is a life sciences strategic advisor, investor, and corporate development executive with more than 20 years of experience scaling teams, operations, and investment platforms to support sustained growth. Over the course of her career, Andrea has shaped corporate strategy, launched new capabilities and business units, built high-performing teams, and implemented operational processes that enable disciplined execution. Her experience spans global markets, the full therapeutic product clinical lifecycle, and a broad range of therapeutic areas, giving her deep insight into asset valuation and the key drivers of value in biotechnology. She brings a sophisticated understanding of the strategic and operational challenges facing investors, biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical organizations.
Andrea served as SVP, Head of Corporate Development & Strategy at Weatherden, a UK-based advisory firm that supports companies in reducing strategic, technical, and execution risk in drug development. From 2003 to 2019, she held progressively senior roles at DRI Capital, ultimately serving as President and Chief Investment Officer. In that capacity, she led the Investment Team, established and oversaw the Investor Relations and Operations functions, and co-led fundraising and financial activities. During her tenure, she helped triple the size of the organization and deployed more than $1.9B into the acquisition of 60 pharmaceutical royalty streams.
Ms. Sotak began her career in life sciences at Allelix Biopharmaceuticals Inc. and later spent several years at Aventis Pasteur, where she played a key role in launching a vaccine production facility. She holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo.
