Eicke Latz

Scientific Director, German Rheumatism Research Centre Berlin (DRFZ)

Eicke Latz studied medicine in Göttingen and Berlin and worked as an intensive care physician at the Charité Hospital in Berlin. Starting in 2000 he received post-doctoral training at Boston University and UMass Medical School, where he joined the UMass faculty in 2006.

In 2010 he returned to Germany and founded the Institute of Innate Immunity at the University Hospital of the University of Bonn. In 2023 he became the scientific director of the German Center for Rheumatology Research (DRFZ).

Eicke co-founded a number of biotech companies (IFM Therapeutics, Odyssey Therapeutics, Stealth Biotech, DiosCure Therapeutics) that translate some of his discoveries into novel medicines in the areas of inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.
