For founders developing hardware-focused solutions in advanced manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Stream at Milan supports founders building transformative industrial technologies, with a focus on hardware-centric ventures.

Les jeunes pousses du CDL travaillent avec ces mentors pour affiner leurs objectifs, établir des priorités en termes de temps et de ressources, lever des fonds et s'engager auprès d'experts travaillant aux frontières de la recherche.

The startups attend four in-person objective-setting sessions between October and June. CDL is a non-profit organization. There are no fees for participation and CDL does not take any equity. Learn more about the CDL program.

Qui doit poser sa candidature ?

The Manufacturing Stream is particularly suited to companies working on disruptive solutions across the manufacturing value chain. This stream is tailored towards early-stage companies (early venture or growth) or even projects (pre-incorporation); however, startups at all levels of maturity will be considered.

Example Innovation Areas

  • Robotics & Automation: Humanoids, collaborative robots (cobots), autonomous mobile robots, soft robotics, and domain-specific industrial robotic systems designed to enhance precision, flexibility, and productivity on the factory floor.
  • Physical AI & Industrial Intelligence: Technologies that bridge the physical and digital layers of industry, including digital twins, AI-driven machine vision, robotics data infrastructure, agentic AI within industrial environments, orchestration systems, haptics, and broader IT/OT convergence.
  • Resilient & Sustainable Supply Chains: Solutions addressing critical materials and industrial sustainability, such as rare earth recovery, green steel and iron, biomanufacturing, industrial waste treatment, and advanced alloys, enabling more secure, circular, and cost-efficient production systems.
  • Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Competitiveness: Enabling technologies that strengthen Europe’s industrial edge, including semiconductors and compound chips, optics and photonics, additive manufacturing, and advanced materials that improve performance, scalability, and efficiency across production processes.

Nos mentors

CDL mentors include accomplished entrepreneurs, experienced operators, active angel and venture investors, world-leading scientists, engineers, and economists. Mentors meet every 12 weeks in Milan to help founders set objectives over the program’s nine-month duration.

Companies accepted to the CDL Manufacturing Stream benefit from advice from experienced entrepreneurs, scientists and economists who are global leaders in industry innovation. These experts meet with companies periodically to evaluate their technologies, suggest improvements, and to explore formal advising engagements.
