Doug Liddle is a highly experienced business leader in the global space industry. Doug has demonstrated leadership in the roles of business manager, engineering manager, systems engineer and technical specialist across a wide variety of missions for a broad base of customers. He balances proven technical expertise and vision with an ability to grow and deliver the business.

In 2015, Doug founded In-Space Missions Limited to deliver Space as a Managed Service to start-ups, big corporations, research institutes and defence customers. Until August 2015, he was responsible for five years for the business management of the science, exploration and platforms business unit at SSTL. In this role, his responsibilities were to develop new products, win and grow new business, and deliver a £100M portfolio of projects. He also managed a number of government and institutional accounts – including the UK Space Agency and the European Space Agency. Prior to this role at SSTL, he had taken on design responsibility for nanosatellite, microsatellite and small satellite missions with applications including telecoms, navigation, Earth observation and science.

Over his career, Doug has had significant technical and people management experience, including building, running and directing multiple engineering teams. These teams delivered a diverse range of engineering products covering design, analysis, manufacture, testing and operations across an extensive set of disciplines. A culture of technical excellence, task focus, self-motivation and personal responsibility was instilled in each instance.

Over the past 27 years, Doug developed a broad range of global contacts inside industry, academia and government through activities in various space related committees and through direct working with a wide range of customers, suppliers and collaborators.
