With two decades of experience in the financial industry, venture building, and innovation, Mart Maasik focuses on supporting science-driven teams in the Nordic and Baltic regions to turn research into scalable businesses. His journey includes leading SEB Group’s Innovation Lab, developing entrepreneurship programs, and advising science-based ventures.

Estonia’s strengths in research and digital infrastructure create significant opportunities for science-based companies. Mart, as CEO of UniTartu Ventures, has helped researchers spin out and accelerate innovations, building value for society, Estonia, and the University of Tartu.

He is also an experienced entrepreneur, board member, and investor, having co-founded initiatives like Ajujaht—Estonia’s largest entrepreneurship program—and the Innovation Leaders Club.

Most recently, Mart joined Nordic Science Investments as a partner in the first specialized VC fund for science-based startups in the Nordics and Baltics. This role brings more funding and mentorship to innovators, aiming to transform cutting-edge research into global impact in DeepTech, Biotech, AI, and beyond. The fund focuses on building a strong innovation community across Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and the New Nordics.
