Dan Michelson is the Founder and CEO of InCommon, a “for purpose” company that helps companies turn culture into a strategy that drives productivity and engagement by ensuring everyone feels connected and part of the CORE. He has a 20+ track record of helping to build high-performing, high-growth companies with world-class cultures. He recently published the book, Holy Shift! Moving Your Company Forward to the Future of Work to help leaders move forward to the future of work using a common sense, data driven approach. From 2012 to 2022, Dan served as the CEO of Strata, a 500-person tech company with a mission to help heal healthcare. Strata was recognized as one of the nation’s fastest-growing companies, one of the best places to work, and had the highest customer satisfaction in the industry. In his time with Strata, the valuation of the company increased by more than $1 billion. Prior to Strata, he spent a decade as the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of Allscripts, a global leader in healthcare technology. During his time at Allscripts, Dan helped the company grow from 100 to 6,000 employees and over $1 billion in annual revenue. In both companies, culture and connection was the center of the strategy. He is a two-time finalist for Illinois Technology CEO of the Year.
Dan is the Founder of projectMUSIC, a benefit concert that sends children in need to overnight camp, and of HackHunger, a collaborative of tech companies working to crack the code on hunger. All proceeds from Holy Shift! will be donated to Feeding America. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University in Chicago. Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University and his master’s from DePaul University. During his free time, Dan enjoys running and has completed twenty marathons, as well as the Ironman Triathlon. Dan and his wife, Kim, reside in Illinois and have two children.
