Grant Philpott

Director, Trusted Technology Network (TTN)

Grant Philpott is an executive director of Trusted Technology Network (TTN), a consultancy focussing on providing independent, strategic IP support to companies, corporates, law firms and investors.

Before joining TTN, Grant spent 32 years at the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich and The Hague, culminating his career as Chief Operating Officer. His extensive experience of European and global patent​ grant processes as well as stakeholder communities across a broad range of technologies has given him a broad, cross-disciplinary technical, IP and commercial understanding. He has a particular interest in the transition of the patent system from hardware to software innovation and for a number of years was at the forefront of ensuring the EPO’s stable and predictable approach to European software patenting.

In addition to his role at TTN, Grant is a member of the Advisory Board of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property. Prior to his time with the EPO he was director of the Brazilian subsidiary of a German manufacturing SME for three years and also served for nine years as an engineering officer in the British Army. He has a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Cambridge University.
