Lab4 Inc. (Lab4) has developed ARC (advanced recovery circuits), a sustainable mineral extraction process that can recover over 99% of the economic value of lithium ion batteries. The global lithium-ion battery recycling market was valued at $1.5B USD in 2019 and is projected to reach $18.1B USD by 2030. The global shift towards renewable energy has increased demand for batteries and therefore critical minerals which have geographical, environmental, and political constraints. Lab4 has developed a closed loop, zero waste process that is less capital intensive than what is currently available in the market and allows for rare earth minerals to be reused rather than mined.
