Yama

Yama has developed a scalable Direct Air Capture (DAC) system that integrates low-grade heat sources with advanced electrochemistry to offer cost-effective carbon credits for the voluntary carbon market. The company sets itself apart by utilizing bipolar electrodialysis in combination with scalable low-grade heat sources, achieving significant energy efficiency improvements—73% lower than Generation 1 DAC, thermal approaches, and 30% lower than Generation 2 DAC, electrochemical ones. Its most distinctive feature is a hybrid pH and thermal swing process combining the most efficient high TRL electrodialysis systems with the massively produced air heat pumps from the building industry, which further enhances energy efficiency and positions Yama to deliver scalable DAC at 550kWh/tCO2 and a competitive target cost of $70 per ton of CO2.
