Moon Photonics

Moon Photonics develops next-generation infrared photodetectors for quantum photonics applications including QKD, quantum sensing, and quantum computing. Current InGaAs-based detectors face fundamental limits in sensitivity, cooling, and integration, blocking compact and scalable quantum systems. Built on 18 years of CEA research and protected by eight patents, Moon Photonics’ technology enables true single-photon detection at 80 K with a 1000× reduction in size and power consumption. The company’s first-generation ambient-temperature detectors, already validated in LiDAR, free-space optical communication, biomedical imaging, and scientific instrumentation, will be produced at scale to qualify the industrial toolchain and ensure a smooth transition into quantum-grade manufacturing.
