Ruben Gaetani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Toronto Mississauga, cross-appointed to the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. His research and teaching center on the economics and strategic management of technological innovation, particularly how scientific discovery fuels innovation and the consequences that innovation raises for organizations, individuals, and society. In an ongoing research agenda, he is exploring the drivers and implications of technological innovation in the space sector. His papers have appeared in leading academic journals in economics, including the Economic Journal, the Review of Economics and Statistics, and the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, and have received coverage from prominent media outlets including The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and the Toronto Star. His work has been recognized and supported by multiple awards and grants, including the 2021 Austin Robinson Memorial Prize from the Royal Economic Society. He holds a BA and an MSc in Economics from Bocconi University, and a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University. He currently serves as Program Director of the Master of Management of Innovation.
