Matthew Berend is an energy commodities executive with more than 25 years of experience across trading, origination, risk management, structuring, and M&A. He currently advises power generation companies, large power consumers, and a renewable energy campus on strategy and commercial structuring.
In 2018, Matthew co-founded AB Power Advisors to provide regulatory and strategic advisory services to the U.S. power industry. The firm advised on over 3 GW of renewable offtake agreements and supported capital deployment into nearly 1 GW of solar projects before it was acquired by Priority Power in late 2022.
Previously, Matthew was Vice President at Koch Industries, where he led the retail and wholesale power origination team. He was also a founding member of JPMorgan’s power business—leading origination in ERCOT and ISO-New England—and managed structured product origination and portfolios at Calpine. He began his career as a risk analyst in the petroleum group at Koch Industries.
He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting and an M.S. in Finance from Texas A&M University, and serves as an advisor to CareerSpring.
