Dr. Silviu Livescu is an accomplished leader in the geoenergy sector with a career spanning two decades in industry, academia, and entrepreneurship. He is currently Technical Founder, Chief Technology Officer, and Board Director of Bedrock Energy, a VC-backed next-generation low-enthalpy geothermal drilling and subsurface technology company for heating and cooling buildings. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University.

Previously, Silviu was a tenured faculty member in the Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Austin, and an engineering and operational leader in industry, serving as Chief Scientist of Pressure Pumping at Baker Hughes and a Research Engineer at ExxonMobil, following a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University.

He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and M.S./B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Science and Technology “Politehnica” of Bucharest. He has authored hundreds of technical papers and patents in geothermal energy and subsurface engineering, and he edited the Elsevier volume Geothermal Energy Engineering: Technology Transfer with the Oil and Gas Industry. He is a Distinguished Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and his honors include the 2026 Washington Award, given jointly by seven U.S. engineering societies for accomplishments that promote the well-being of humanity, and the 2026 SPE Lester C. Uren Award for Technical Excellence.
