Matthias Winter

Partner, Constructor Capital

Matthias Winter is Managing Partner of Constructor Capital, a Zurich-based venture fund that backs early-stage deep-tech companies at the intersection of fundamental science and scalable commercial impact.

Before joining the venture world, Matthias spent 26 years at McKinsey & Company, rising to Senior Partner and leading the firm’s European Telecom, Media & Technology practice. In that role he advised C-suite leaders on large-scale digital transformation, corporate finance and network innovation across more than 40 countries.

Prior to starting Constructor Capital, as an active angel investor, Matthias was an early backer of QuEra Computing—the neutral-atom quantum platform that has since raised $230 million from Google Quantum AI and SoftBank Vision Fund—and has invested in a portfolio of quantum-sensing and quantum-software companies.

Matthias holds a PhD in Economics and Information Management from EBS Universität and began his career as a research associate at IMD Lausanne. He currently serves on several deep-tech boards and mentors science-driven founders through programs similar to Creative Destruction Lab, where he helps the next generation of scientific entrepreneurs scale globally.
