Dr Fraser Thompson is a Rhodes Scholar, PhD economist and entrepreneur focused on public policy and sustainability. He is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Cyan Ventures (since November 2023), a specialist project-development and advisory firm accelerating the shift to a net-zero, nature-positive economy, and he serves as an economic advisor to Access Partnership. Previously, he co-founded and was Chief Strategy Officer of Sun Cable, helping to advance one of the world’s most ambitious renewable-energy infrastructure projects connecting Australia and Southeast Asia. He also founded AlphaBeta, a strategy and economics consultancy acquired by Access Partnership in 2021. Earlier in his career he spent nearly a decade with McKinsey & Company (including as a Senior Fellow at the McKinsey Global Institute), and held roles with the World Bank and the University of Oxford; he was the inaugural President of AustCham ASEAN. Thompson sits on the board of Climateworks Centre and holds a DPhil and Master’s in Economics from the University of Oxford (Rhodes Scholar) and a BCom/BA (Hons) from the University of Melbourne.
