Madjid Mohseni is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1998 and worked in industry before joining UBC in 2001. His expertise is in water quality and treatment, with a focus on developing innovative technologies for removing and degrading emerging contaminants in drinking water.
Madjid’s research spans from lab-scale development to full-scale field implementation, often in partnership with municipalities and rural and Indigenous communities to ensure practical, locally relevant solutions. He also co-developed and served as the inaugural co-director of UBC’s Environmental Engineering program, a cross-faculty initiative accredited by Engineers Canada in 2023, designed to train the next generation of engineers to address complex environmental challenges.
