Pascal Spothelfer is the President and Managing Director of UBC Venture Funds and the former President and CEO of Genome British Columbia. After starting his professional career with Boston Consulting, Pascal spent his 30s and 40s turning around tech companies before switching to the not-for-profit sector as President of BCTech, VP External at UBC and then his last full time role at Genome BC. Throughout his career, Pascal was involved as a mentor and investor with emerging tech companies. He served as the Chair of Copperleaf Technologies, is a board member with addy Technology and joined CDL as an associate in 2022. His interests include strategy development, leadership, organizational performance, excellence in governance and managerial growth. As a former turn around manager Pascal knows a few things about managing in times of challenges, cash management and structuring for success.

Pascal is a Partner at Social Venture Partners Vancouver, served many years on the Vancouver Opera board, including as chair and besides music and opera, loves to spend time with his family (including adult kids), on the golf course and the ski slopes. He received his law degree and his PhD in law from the University of Basel, Switzerland and holds a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
