Machine Learning Scientist, Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (AMII)

Sahir is a Machine Learning Scientist at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), where he works with AI startups through the CTO Level Up Coaching program. He currently mentors 16 startups and has supported over 30 companies in fields like healthcare, enterprise software, and deep tech.

His research focuses on reinforcement learning (RL), a branch of artificial intelligence that helps machines learn by trial and error. His work has led to published research in areas such as drug discovery and chip design. At Amii, he also led two AI projects that improved supply chain operations, achieving significant gains in order fulfillment.

Before Amii, Sahir completed graduate studies in Computing Science at the University of Alberta, specializing in RL. He also brings prior industry experience as a Data Scientist at companies like IBM and Unilever, where he worked on enhancing data-driven decision-making.
