Derek Payne

Member, Board of Directors, ZayZoon; ZS2 Technologies and Jostle, ZayZoon Inc

Derek serves as a board member and advisor for several for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, including ZayZoon, ZS2 Technologies and Jostle.

Derek received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan. He went on to work with KPMG, where he obtained his CPA (CA) designation, after which he joined WestJet Airlines as Treasurer and Vice President of Finance. Over the course of his nine-year career with the airline, he helped take them from a small start-up private company, through an IPO and initiated, built, and grew their Treasury, Risk Management, Financial Reporting, and IR functions. Derek was also responsible for all aircraft financing transactions. After leaving WestJet, he went on to be CFO of DIRTT Environmental Solutions and played a lead role in the company’s preparation for and subsequent IPO.

Alongside his work as a board member and advisor, Derek is also involved with the University of Calgary, where he acts as a volunteer mentor to students in their Entrepreneurship and Business programs, is an Independent Business Advisor for InterGen and a mentor in the Haskayne School of Business ScaleUp program.
