After completing her PhD in Karolinska Institute, Stockholm in human fertility and early embryo studies via single-cell RNA-sequencing, Elo received the ESPOD Postdoctoral fellowship for further single-cell studies in EMBL-EBI and Wellcome Sanger Institute. Her research passion is about decoding the information from high-throughput data for the advancement of biomedical discovery. She is striving to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare by generation and analysis of multi-modal next-generation datasets. Her personal interest is specifically in the immune system and in figuring out how would it be possible to leverage the nature’s built-in mechanisms to aid in therapies. As of 2022, Elo holds the position of the Director of Single Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics at drug development startup Owkin.
