Gaurav Chawla

Co-Founder, Renew Risk

Gaurav Chawla is a deep tech and fintech entrepreneur. He is currently co-founder and executive chair of Renew Risk, a scale-up focusing on financialization of renewable energy. He is also the  and CEO of Lumirithmic, a computer graphics and AI start-up.

Gaurav has 20 years of experience as a trader, investment banker and then a tech/product specialist and deep tech entrepreneur. His expertise lies in product build, commercialization and sales of B2B enterprise tech/fintech/hardtech. He is also serving as Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) at Imperial College London, supporting them in deep tech commercialization.

He has a deep technical background in engineering, fintech, data science, and computer science, and has held leading technical/product roles at GE, RBS, Morgan Stanley, and IHS Markit (now S&P), complemented with experience in product marketing and sales, patent protection, product launch and everything tech! Gaurav has co-authored several publications and is also co-inventor of multiple patents.

He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Delhi), and holds master’s degrees in engineering and mathematical finance as well as an MBA (in finance and accounting) from Georgia Tech. Gaurav also earned an LLB (equivalent of Juris Doctor) in intellectual property law from the University of London. He is also a CFA and FRM charter holder.
