Jehangir Appoo is in a second career at the intersection of finance, medicine and impact. In 2020, he founded AIoT Health, Artificial Intelligence of Things Healthcare, a physician-backed syndicate venture capital fund focusing on applying machine learning and digital technologies to make a meaningful improvement in healthcare. AIoT Health seeks to partner with founders using digital technologies to rewrite the boundaries of healthcare. Jehangir mentors health care start-ups as a CDL Associate in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver as well as through other programs in the North American innovation ecosystem. In addition to being immersed in the healthcare start-up ecosystem, Jehangir contributes to pushing forward academic frontiers in cardiovascular science and has an adjunct Associate Professorship at the University of Calgary.

Jehangir’s first career was as a cardiovascular surgeon with experience in healthcare systems in Canada, the US and the UK. Whilst in practice at the University of Calgary, he helped establish the Artificial Heart Program, performed southern Alberta’s first artificial heart device implant and founded a multidisciplinary Thoracic Aortic Program focused on open, hybrid and endovascular interventions.
