Ka Yi Ling

Dr Ka Yi Ling is a venture creator and entrepreneur–scientist who bridges lab breakthroughs to market impact. A developmental and stem-cell biologist by training, she co-founded cultivated-seafood pioneer Shiok Meats in 2018 and served as (Group) CTO, leading programs to culture prawn, crab and lobster from stem cells and helping the company secure milestone seed and Series A rounds as it scaled R&D and manufacturing in Singapore. Earlier she completed a BSc and PhD at the University of Wisconsin–Madison on an ASTAR National Science Scholarship, then returned to Singapore for postdoctoral research at ASTAR’s Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology. Recognised among MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 (2020), she is an active science communicator and mentor, and now Melbourne-based she supports venture creation and advises early-stage climate- and bio-innovation teams across APAC.
