Michel Pioro-Ladrière is the Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Nord Quantique, a quantum computing company that emerged from the innovation ecosystem he helped establish in Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada. Previously, he was a Professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, where one of his research achievements was named among the Top 10 Discoveries of the Year by Québec Science magazine in 2020. He co-founded the Institut quantique at the Université de Sherbrooke, held the Chair for the Deployment of Quantum Technologies, and was the Scientific Director of DistriQ, Sherbrooke’s Quantum Innovation Zone—one of the first two Innovation Zones recognized by the Government of Québec. Additionally, he founded the Bachelor’s program in Quantum Information Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke. Michel holds a PhD in physics, completed in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada, and conducted postdoctoral research at the NTT Basic Research Laboratories in Japan.
