Michelle heads the Neuroscience Medical franchise for Novartis Canada. In this role, she collaborates with companies in the neuroscience space who partner with Novartis through the Montreal Biome at Mila. Prior to joining Novartis she built the Global Medical Affairs function at Santen Pharmaceuticals, an Okaka, Japan based ophthalmologics company. Michelle has a deep understanding of all phases of drug development and commercialization. She has served on the scientific advisory boards of many healthcare related organizations and has mentored founders of drug development companies as well as pharmaceutical services. Michelle studied the novel infectious particle prion protein in the lab of Dr. Stanley Prusiner (Nobel Prize 1997). She provided business consulting services in strategy, logistics and change management at Accenture Consulting. Michelle earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on the evolution of auditory processing in the central nervous system.
