Mohannad El-Barachi is a seasoned tech entrepreneur, investor, and executive based in Montreal. He is the co-founder and CEO of Wrk, a company that blends human and machine capabilities to deliver superior results in digital tasks and automation.
With a strong background in launching and scaling tech businesses, Mohannad co-founded and led SweetIQ Analytics Corp., a digital marketing platform that significantly increased in-store foot traffic for multi-location brands. Under his leadership, SweetIQ experienced over 300% year-on-year growth for four consecutive years, culminating in its acquisition by Gannett, the owner of USA TODAY, in 2017. This deal earned the Canadian Venture Capital Deal of the Year Award in 2018.
Prior to Wrk, Mohannad held executive roles at various tech firms, including serving as the Senior Vice President at ReachLocal, where he integrated SweetIQ into Gannett’s operations and achieved profitability. He also has experience in commodities trading and investment banking, having worked as a commodities trader and deal maker in Dubai.
Mohannad has technical expertise with key roles in software and web applications development at Interchange Technologies and Concordia University. He has a BSc in Computer Science and Political Science from Concordia University.
In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, Mohannad is a strategic advisor and investor in several technology companies, including RenderSEO, Toric, and Potloc. He is also a fellow of the C100, an organization that supports Canadian technology entrepreneurship. Throughout his career, he has raised over $100M CAD for the startups he leads.
