Morag Watson serves as an independent advisor and Board member to various startups in the digital and energy arena and is a trusted mentor and coach within the technology community. She brings over 30 years of expertise in technology innovation, from ideation to development, application, standardization, and disruption, with a reputation for visionary leadership and transformational delivery.

Previously, Morag served as Senior Vice President of Digital Science and Engineering at bp, driving digital strategy development, growing digital and data science capabilities, and accelerating the adoption of emerging digital technologies—an area she pioneered as Chief Digital Innovation Officer. In these roles, she worked closely with the global startup ecosystem and bp’s venture organization, serving on the Venture Investment Committee and advising on investments in digital and clean energy. She also served on the Board of BP America. Earlier in her career at bp, she held senior executive roles including Director of Global Information Technology Operations and Infrastructure for the Western Hemisphere, Chief Information Officer and Vice President of bp’s Exploration and Production business globally, and Vice President and CFO of bp’s North Americas B2B fuels business. She also led bp’s Alternative Energy distributed energy business as an incubator “start-up.”

A native of Scotland, Morag earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and her Master of Science in Management as a Sloan Fellow from Stanford University. Morag is a sought-after speaker and panel member and is based in Houston, Texas.
