Priit Palta

Head of Estonian Biobank Innovation Centre, University of Tartu

Priit Palta serves as the Head of the Estonian Biobank Innovation Centre and holds the position of Associate Professor of Genome Informatics at the University of Tartu, Estonia. Additionally, he fulfills roles as the Chief Scientific Officer at Activate Health and as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland, University of Helsinki.

His primary scientific interests and areas of expertise revolve around the advancement of highly scalable statistical and computational methodologies for healthtech, encompassing human genetics, genomics, and transcriptomics. Priit is particularly engaged in the development of polygenic risk score models for complex diseases, as well as statistical and deterministic computational models for applied healthtech solutions. He also focuses on genetics, genomics, and transcriptomics-based screening and diagnostic solutions, along with sequencing data processing and analysis.

Priit’s academic background spans molecular biology (BSc) and bioinformatics (MSc and PhD) from the University of Tartu, Estonia.
