Mr. Tang, with over 35 years in the upstream energy sector, founded four E&P companies, including Deltastream Energy Corporation, which he led as President and CEO, transforming a CAD$120 million investment into a CAD$1.7 billion sale in 2022. He mentored diverse professionals throughout his career, fostering talent in the industry.
In 2023, through the Tang Family Foundation, he established a Chair in New Energy Materials and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo to advance solar fuels and technologies. In 2025, he expanded the foundation’s support to the Waterloo Data and AI Institute, focusing on integrating Large Language Models with robotics for embodied intelligence.
Mr. Tang holds an M.Sc. in Geological Sciences from the University of Manitoba, earned in 1985 with a Sigma Xi Designation for Research Excellence. His work continues to drive innovation in renewable energy and artificial intelligence.
