LncRNA Therapeutics
Long coding RNA (lncRNAs) regulate cellular function by uniquely interacting with cellular machinery based on their size, shape, and sequence, serving as the cell’s natural equivalent of small molecule drugs. LncRNA Therapeutics has developed technology that mines cells to identify functional lncRNAs and transforms them into therapeutics by engineering the molecules through various chemical and sequence modifications. The venture aims to leverage their technology to first treat acute inflammation, beginning with diseases caused by elevated IL-1beta (i.e. atherothrombosis). In contrast to alternative treatments, which offer more symptomatic relief through suppressing IL-beta activity, Linker more effectively targets the root driver of diseases caused by elevated protein levels, demonstrating a 7x reduction in the protein through a single dose of treatment.
