Uptime (Zeal Industries)

Zeal Industries is developing Uptime, a suite of technologies beginning with a vessel-mounted emergency alert system (Uptime Vessel) to provide artisanal fishers with real-time location tracking and mayday alert capabilities not previously possible. Fishing is widely recognized as one of the world’s most dangerous occupations, causing around 100,000 deaths annually, with fishers in developing countries bearing a disproportionate share of the physical and economic risks. By using low-cost satellite communications and real-time tracking, Uptime delivers peace of mind to vessel owners and operators at an affordable price, and is positioned to develop complementary technologies such as a wearable to automatically detect man overboard events (Uptime Personal), as well as navigational tools (Uptime Pathfinder).
