I am an entrepreneur and investor in SaaS, DaaS and keen to explore applications arising from technology innovation across all domains of life. In addition, I cherish the prospect of mentoring founders in accelerating/ guiding/ protecting their endeavours both from a strategic as well as an operational perspective.
I exited from MarineTraffic (MT), the global leader in maritime ship tracking intelligence, in March 2023 – acquired by Kpler, leader in commodities tracking. MarineTraffic is a business growing at >25% y-o-y, >80% being recurring revenue. In 2022 we closed at 20M euro top line and >4M euro EBITDA. We achieved this through a world class product and dataset and a strong results-oriented and people-centric culture. MarineTraffic EV at time of exit was ~$100m, including roll-over returns. We were 3 partners, all exiting together.
During the 10 years at MT (2013-23), I served as Executive Partner and Board Member. I led Sales, Explore, Strategy development, Partnerships and launched the product vertical focusing on Port Call Optimisation. I represented MT at international organisations, driven by the global green agenda in shipping. I also led our M&A exit journey, culminating to the Kpler deal.
A founder and entrepreneur most of my life, I was founding partner and served as Exec Chairman of WOW group (2005-2014), a digital agency active in European and Middle East markets, offering state of the art e-learning, e-commerce and e-marketing solutions. Before that, I started my career as technology consultant in 1998; I performed in government and private European organisations, focusing on information systems integration and restructuring.
In my journey so far, I have naturally led or supported most business functions, from strategy, to GTM and Success, to Product, to networking and fund-raising, while our businesses were growing. I like numbers and facts but sometimes make decisions on intuition too.
I was awarded BA Hons in Physics (Keble, 1990-3) and DPhil in Particle Physics (Wolfson, 1993-8) from the University of Oxford, where I am also proud to have been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship (1994-7).
